DJ and Producer Tony Phorse has been making beats since he was thirteen years old, from his mum’s keep fit class to classic dance music to hip hop to the darkest corners of deep techno. Phorse’s no nonsense personal style is the focus in our latest edit: think skater tees, layered jackets and beat up Reeboks, and the stylish nonchalance of someone who knows himself well enough to know what works.
Musical inspirations range from DJs such as Mumdance, JoeFarr, Sheik and Josey Rebelle, to glitch art, northern collective The Tomorrow People, and anything a little out of the ordinary.
Phorse’s developed sound is first to some and second to most - his inimitable personality is as much a draw as his musical knowledge and unwavering passion.
His latest role as scout and producer for house and techno at Radar Radio sees him roaming the London night scene, as well as the streets around the studios in Clerkenwell. Say hi if you see him - you’ll most likely leave with a new friend, and a couple of new artists to listen to at least.
